Three things happening at once in one piece of candy. The outer layer is crunchy Nerds in their usual tangy, sweet form, which gives way to a soft gummy middle, and then at the very centre there’s a liquid strawberry punch filling that releases when you bite through. The progression from crunch to chew to juice is what makes these different from the original Gummy Clusters, which had the same outer and middle but no liquid core. The clusters themselves are roughly twice the size of the originals, so there’s more of each layer to actually experience.

The strawberry punch flavour runs through all three layers in different intensities, the Nerds coating carrying the most tartness, the gummy sitting sweeter, and the juice bringing a concentrated fruity burst at the end. It doesn’t read as overly sweet despite the layering because the tang from the Nerds coating keeps things balanced. Good for snacking straight from the bag, and difficult to stop at a reasonable amount.
